Peru
Lost Cities, Living Cultures & the Land of the Andes
Where Ancient Mystery Meets Mountain Majesty
Peru is the beating heart of South America—where the past whispers through stone ruins, the Andes kiss the clouds, and vibrant cultures flourish across colourful landscapes. From the iconic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu to the mysterious Nazca Lines, Peru offers a travel experience like no other.
But it’s not all ruins and rugged beauty. Peru is also buzzing with life - enjoy ceviche in Lima, shop handwoven textiles in Cusco, and dance to Andean panpipes in the Sacred Valley. Whether you’re a history lover, a hiking enthusiast, or a cultural adventurer, Peru will captivate, challenge, and completely charm you.
Visa Requirements
UK passport holders do not need a visa to enter Peru for tourism stays of up to 183 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Immigration officers may request proof of return flight and accommodation.

Holidays to Peru
During the Summer
From December to March, coastal areas like Lima are warm and sunny (25–30°C), while the Andes and rainforest regions experience their wet season - expect lush greenery, warm temperatures, and afternoon rain showers.
During the Winter
From May to September, it’s the dry season in the Andes, ideal for trekking and exploring Machu Picchu. Coastal areas can be cooler and foggy, while the Amazon remains humid and tropical.
Top Peru Hot Spots
Hike or train your way to the citadel of Machu Picchu, perched dramatically in the Andes. Cruise the Amazon River, one of the world’s most biodiverse regions. And soar above the Nazca Lines - giant geoglyphs etched mysteriously into the desert floor.

Machu Picchu – The Lost City of the Incas
This world-famous wonder is Peru’s crown jewel. Whether you hike the Inca Trail or arrive by train, the misty peaks and ancient stonework leave a lasting impression.
Cusco – The Inca Capital in the Clouds
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cusco’s cobbled streets, vibrant markets, and mix of Inca and colonial architecture are rich with culture and charm.
Lake Titicaca – Floating Islands & Timeless Traditions
The highest navigable lake in the world, home to the Uros people who live on floating reed islands. Peaceful, spiritual, and unlike anywhere else.
The Amazon Rainforest – Nature’s Wild Symphony
Accessible from Iquitos or Puerto Maldonado, the Peruvian Amazon offers wildlife encounters, jungle lodges, and unforgettable river journeys.
Top Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Holiday
- Acclimatise to the Altitude - Cusco and Machu Picchu are over 3,000m above sea level. Arrive a few days early to rest, drink coca tea, and adjust before strenuous activity.
- Try the Street Food (Wisely!) - Peru is a culinary powerhouse. Sample anticuchos, empanadas and churros, but choose busy, clean-looking stalls for the safest - and tastiest - experience.
- Learn the History Before You Hike - Understanding the stories behind the Incas, the Quechua people, and colonial Peru adds depth to your journey. Consider a guided tour to unlock the meaning behind the stones.
- Take the Scenic Routes - Don’t rush! Take the train through the Sacred Valley, a boat across Lake Titicaca, or a hike in Colca Canyon. Peru’s beauty is in the journey as much as the destination.
